Taking you further into film
The Canterbury Film Society provides a carefully curated programme of films to captivate, inform and inspire film enthusiasts as well as those on the hunt for alternatives to mainstream cinema. We screen films on Monday nights over nine months of the year from February through October at the Christchurch Art Gallery Te Puna o Waiwhetū.
Full membership provides access to all our regular screenings. With 34 films being offered in 2022 season, we bring our members extraordinary films for less than $4 per screening.
We offer new members a Flexi-Pass trial, i.e. any three films for $30. (These may be shared and have no expiry date.) Check out our Public Events with free entry (koha/donations appreciated).
Warm welcome for film lovers!
Canterbury Film Society is delighted that we are now able to safely spread out and use all the seats in the Christchurch Art Gallery auditorium so there is plenty of room for everyone. Doors open at 7pm with drinks and homemade snacks available for purchase (no eftpos available so do bring cash). We want to encourage everyone to come and feel relaxed, so please remember to wear a mask - except when you are sipping your drink!
Ōtautahi film-lovers are encouraged to fill in our online membership form, and join us for our weekly screenings of top-quality films - arthouse, classic, cult, documentary, world cinema and more - in the heart of the city.
