The Canterbury Film Society is an Incorporated Society affiliated with the NZ Federation of Film Societies. CFS Membership entitles voting rights at the CFS AGM.

Most screenings are open to members only, unless otherwise indicated, and censor’s ratings apply

Flexi-Passes give access to any three films but do not include rights and benefits of full membership

Full membership is valid for 12 months from date of purchase

All prices are GST inclusive

Lost membership cards will not be replaced

All memberships are non-transferable

Membership options
Three membership options are available:

⬤ FULL YEAR MEMBERSHIP ($140)
Full membership offers UNLIMITED entry to the entire film season
and offers other benefits including:

Discounts at the New Zealand International Film Festival (NZIFF)

Discounts at Alice and Lumière Cinemas

Free entry to any other New Zealand Film Society screening nationwide

Free admission for a guest to any one screening

New members can join at any time of the year, with membership running for 12 months from the month of joining.
The following reduced-price full memberships are available:

DISCOUNTED Full Membership: $130 (Seniors 65+/Unwaged/Film Guild)

STUDENT Full Membership: $90 (Tertiary)

HIGH SCHOOL Full Membership: $50 (13–18 years)

⬤ HALF-YEAR MEMBERSHIP ($80)
Half-year memberships are valid for all screenings from either February–June or July–October 2023.

⬤ FLEXI-PASS ($40)
A Flexi-Pass is a limited membership which offers entry to any three films of your choice and can be shared to bring along friends to a screening. Passes never expire, so can be used over multiple years.

Upgrading Memberships
If you love your Half-Year or Flexi-Pass Membership and want to see more, you can pay the difference and upgrade to a Full Membership. This offers a convenient pay-by-instalment option, i.e. Half Year can be converted to Full membership to the end of the year for $60.
New and renewing members are encouraged to join online and we can have your card ready to be picked up before a screening or posted to you.
